Part was broken on arrival : White headphone jack hold switch for iPod Video 5G 30GB
Before purchasing this one, I tried iPod 5th Gen Audio Headphone Jack Assembly 30GB. I was sent a model that looked nothing like the one in my iPod. Because the orientation of its wires was so bizarrely different from the original, installation was impossible. Furthermore, the actual hold switch wasn't included, so even if everything had mirrored the original, I would've had to go through 3 or 4 extra-tedious steps to attach the assembly onto the original hold switch. Frustrated, I filed a claim and received my ~$8 refund shortly thereafter (to Zeetron's credit).
Uxcell's model, however, fit perfectly into my 5.5G iPod, not to mention at half the price. Everything from the contours of the headphone jack (which, in contrast to claims made by some reviewers, did conform perfectly to the curves of the metal shell) to the length and orientation of the wires, were identical. In addition, this assembly came with a brand new hold switch, sparing me the trouble of tediously attaching the assembly to the original hold switch. To install, I followed the clearly-written instructions on iFixit.com:[...].
Judging from the envelope in which the assembly was shipped, this is the original Apple part, shipped from Hong Kong, likely one location where original parts are manufactured. Lastly, Uxcell included a $5 off coupon for purchases on their website, which is nice, but I doubt I have much else to buy, since I already have what I was looking for.
